A German Shorthaired Pointer trained at Tom Creek Kennels

About Tom Creek Kennels - Our History & Background

Tom Creek Kennels is a family business that is owned and operated by Jim, Belinda, Clay, and Marc Shaeffer. Tom Creek Kennels is situated on 240 Acres in Northwest Iowa, near Rock Rapids, Iowa. In 2009 we made the decision to purchase a farm in Northwest Iowa and pursue our dream of raising German Shorthaired Pointers and farming. Our focus is on breeding, raising, and training bird and hunting dogs.

Repeat or referral customers are priceless and new customers are our business. We want the dog you get from us to be the best dog you ever had. We enjoy when customers contact us and let us know how their dogs are doing. If you ever need anything we are just a phone call away.

If your looking for a show dog or hunting dog you have found the right gun dog kennel. We have spent the time selecting our studs and dams to ensure high quality German Shorthaired Pointers at a reasonable price.

Why We Raise & Train German Shorthaired Pointers

Even though over the years I have hunted with many good hunting breeds, German Shorthaired Pointers have become my breed of choice. I enjoy the versatility of the German Shorthaired Pointer and the drive that they have to please in the field and at home.

We primarily hunt upland birds such as Quail and Pheasant. However, German Shorthair Pointers will hunt just about anything-anywhere. We train our gun dogs with Quail and Pheasant, but the same gun dog trained with Quail will go to Idaho and hunt Chuckar or South America and hunt Perdiz.
